Service of Tenebrae: A Service of Worship for Good Friday at First Presbyterian Church of Umatilla Florida. Tenebrae which means service of shadows has been with the church since the Middle Ages, it is a service of meditation on the suffering and passion of Christ in readings, music and silence. During the service the lights are dimmed and the flame of the Christ candle is extinguished representing Jesus death, the service continues on Easter morning with the re-lighting of the paschal candle.
