The Seal: A Closer Look
While on the topic of the PCUSA...The seal of the PCUSA has numerous religious symbols embedded in its design. At first glance, the sign of the cross is easily identifiable, the dove reminds us of the Holy Spirit, the cross; the love of Christ. The scriptures make the center of the cross, which also forms a pulpit and lectern depicting the centrality of the preaching of the word of God. The cup and chalice is visible in the center, and the flames on the sides forms a triangle emphasizing the trinitarian nature of the Presbyterian faith.
